Norman H Carey

I am a Molecular Biologist and worked for about twenty-five years in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries as a researcher and research manager. I was very much involved in the start-up of new research facilities and designing and planning the new research programmes. This required a great degree of adaptability to change as the organisations evolved.

 This was followed by about fifteen years as a consultant in scientific project and intellectual property management. I had always had a strong wish not to retire suddenly at the age of sixty-five. So at the end of the 1990’s, I allowed my work to slow down and started looking for something in the voluntary sector that might make use of some of my experience and allow me to give something back to the community.

Eventually in the year 2000 the charity called REACH introduced me to Daybreak, which was in need of a Chairman. I joined as Deputy Chairman for a year and then Chairman until 2007. I then retired from the Chair and remain as an ordinary member of the Committee of Trustees
