Daybreak Oxford is a charitable Company Limited by Guarantee. We were established in 1991, (at that time called the Inter Agency Day Care Group Oxford) to provide specialist day care for older people with mental health needs, mainly in the City of Oxford. The charity works in partnership with and receives much of its funding from the Oxfordshire County Council Social and Community Services and the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Partnership Mental Health Trust.

The charity is run by a Board of Trustees and a Director, who manages the day to day affairs of the charity.

The Group has one large Day Centre, which opens for five days per week and two centres in North Oxford City and Kidlington, which open for two and four days.

The Day Centres provide:

  • A range of stimulating group and individual activities in which clients may participate as much as they wish;
  • Experienced staff teams supported by volunteers;
  • Transport for clients to and from the Centres if required;
  • A midday meal plus tea/coffee during the day;
  • Facilities for clients with special needs such as problems with mobility or continence.
  • An informal social club;
  • Joint activities with other Day Centres;
  • Outings and visits during the year;

The number of people who can join a Centre depends on the day and the Centre. The numbers range from twelve to twenty.

The charity has three Centres.

The main one, Rosewood, is located in the Clockhouse Centre, Blackbird Leys, Oxford and operates on five days each week. On four of these days it supports clients with mental health problems and/or significant memory loss, including dementia. On the fifth day it supports older people who only have functional disorders, (depression, psychosis etc.).

Limes is located in North Oxford and opens for two days per week. It supports the same client needs as the Rosewood main group.

Lilacs is in Kidlington and opens for four days per week. On three of these days it again supports the same main group of clients as Rosewood and Limes. The fourth day is a more specialised service for those with more complex cognitive problems.

For more information about any of these services please contact the Director, Carrie Hetherington (Tel: 01865 776744)
